Well the presentation slides are pretty much finished up and not a Powerpoint file in sight! That’s the way we do it in 2008, not 2007, as one kind reader pointed out.
The first of this month’s articles were uploaded to GD too. With collaborators invited I believe it is going to drastically cut down on the number of files that get exchanged within this period of production.
Also, as EiC I spend a lot of time writing and answering emails – tonight was one of those nights where the load was especially heavy. These have to be dealt with before getting on with other planned duties (in this case my main duty right now is to finish this speech for Saturday).
March issue deadline is only a week away.

With the Jeju University presentation date moving ever nearer, it has been time to work on some basic multimedia elements for it.
A photo presentation with some accompanying text.
However, as my mouse pointer hovered over the Powerpoint launch logo I decided that, these days, there must be a web-based solution. I was first using Powerpoint over ten years ago. It’s now 2008. There had to be something online.
Indeed there is. And indeed it is free.
Enter Google Docs (GD) and its presentation package.
It was simple, functional and did everything I needed it to do.
Come Saturday the use of a stable Wi-Fi connection means we’re set.
But GD goes further. Just take a look at this video, which gets really interesting from this point in:
Meet Sam, Sam is the editor of a neighbourhood newsletter called the Oak Tree View. She works with local writers who would like to publish articles in the newsletter…
It seems GD will be rather useful for the copy-editing process this month.
As the video concludes: Sam Jim can concentrate on being an editor instead of a document master.
