The Audio Slide Show

February 6, 2008

This morning’s project working with Audacity and Soundslides took about two hours in total. A chunk of that time was spent waiting for photographs to upload from my camera and then process in Soundslides.

The audio editing was done easy enough as there wasn’t anything to cut out of the file.

It was a relatively simple click to spread the photograph’s display time evenly over the course of the one-minute audio.

Uploading to web server was helped by clear instructions available here.

It’s not a good audio slide show. But it’s a start. More practice is needed (with Chujado next on the list).

So here it is.

Some might suggest that the photographs progress too fast. According to Mindy McAdams this isn’t a bad thing. Keep the viewer interested by changing the images as speedily as possible. Perhaps in an updated version some could be removed.

Secondly, the show ends abruptly. It could have been brought to a more comfortable conclusion by dragging out display time of the last photograph.

In other news today:

A visit to the El Paso Mexican restaurant revealed that we were down to three issues. Restocked with another ten. A brief chat with the owner also revealed that a great number of visiting foreigners seem to be picking up the magazine.

I plan to open a Facebook event for the forthcoming Fire Festival on Jeju. It’s another experiment as I notice that most people who are invited to events usually stay ‘MIA’.
