CouchSurfing & European PGA Tour: Jeju
Saturday evening saw the planned Jeju CouchSurfing meeting go ahead at Holly’s Coffee. It was an enjoyable chat over drinks and dinner. Nothing electrifying, but good, solid, conversation — considering we were four complete strangers with little to no prior experience with organization. Of the four people who attended (myself included), three were Korean. We hope to do something activity related in the future.
Prior to that meeting I spent time at the Bandi Café (second flood, building next to Bagdad) studying Korean with a friend. With their help, I was able to work through a Korean folk tale and understand every line. It felt like I had accomplished more than learning a vocabulary list or expression. Further, they loaded me up with extra study materials which will be a great help when I don’t have the motivation to study a certain book one day.
Golf fans on the island will be happy to know that the European PGA Tour stops here this week at the Pinx Country Club. Colin Montgomery is due to play as is Paul Broadhurst (from my home town, Atherstone, in England). The tournament begins on Wednesday and finishes on Sunday. It is the first European Tour event to be held in the country. Find out more here and here (second link Korean only).
